Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actress. Her most famous role is in the role of Teri an ardent attorney Teri Jospehson on the Showtime TV series Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name following her marriage to. As a child within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always intrigued by acting. At an Maryland high school competition at the beginning of her education she received the award for the best actress. Her career in acting started after she worked in the Washington Ballet Company and theatre. Contractor is a Mumbai-born Indian living in Nigeria since she was just seven years old. She was well-versed in different cultures around the world and was able to travel at such a young stage. She attended boarding school in London from seven to nine years of age, and then her family moved to Toronto, Canada, where she lived for the bulk of her childhood and young adulthood. Contractor studied classical ballet in Toronto. She was also a star academically. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts - a specialized arts high school in which she studied more than just dance but also theater. At 16 after a decade of years of dancing, Contractor decided to take up acting as a profession. After graduating high school, Contractor was awarded a scholarship by the University of Toronto to pursue the dual field of sociology and psychology. In addition, she obtained an advanced degree in theatre. Contractor was given the lead character in Pericles after a one-year stint at University. She was a part of the audition for it during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and won. The play received rave reviews and her performances during the 92 performances that in the production. It was also voted as the best production by Canadian critics in 2002. She was invited to join Stratford's conservatory, a program that allows only four males and eight women can take an intensive 20-week course of classical theater.
